During a speech in North Carolina on Sunday, former President Donald Trump appeared to incorrectly mention Pennsylvania’s Republican Senate candidate Dave McCormick.
“We have excellent Republicans running, and you have one of the best of them right here, David McCormick, you know. Where is David? Is he around somewhere? Trump said this during a rally in Kinston, North Carolina.
Trump, who had earlier spoken at a rally in Pennsylvania, appeared to catch himself and continued, “You know, we just left him, he’s a great guy.”
The Pennsylvania battle, between McCormick and three-term Democratic Sen. Bob Casey, is critical as Republicans attempt to flip the one or two seats required to take control of the Senate. Casey was at 50% with McCormick’s.
Last month, CNN reported that McCormick managed one of the world’s largest hedge funds, which risked millions of dollars against some of Pennsylvania’s largest and most renowned corporations.
Trump, speaking at a rally in Lititz, Pennsylvania, earlier Sunday, said he “shouldn’t have left” office after losing the 2020 election, called Democrats “demonic,” and said he “wouldn’t mind” if a gunman aiming at him also shot through the “fake news.”
