As the first results of the U.S. presidential election roll in, former President Donald Trump has taken an early lead over Vice President Kamala Harris, with 19 electoral votes to Harris’s 3.
Current tallies show Trump with 1,506,761 votes (54.3%), while Harris has secured 1,243,235 votes (44.8%). The Associated Press has not yet called the overall race, and significant numbers of states remain unreported or undecided.
The first states to report wins include Indiana and Kentucky for Trump, while Vermont has gone to Harris. Other states remain in various stages of reporting, and results may shift as more votes are counted.
