A Disney Cruise Line ship rescued four people stranded aboard a sinking catamaran off the coast of Bermuda. The daring rescue occurred on Sunday when the Disney Cruise Line ship, the Disney Treasure, reacted to an urgent cry for assistance when the 50-foot yacht, Serenity, began taking on water owing to a gasket failure in the escape hatch.
The Serenity was approximately 230 miles from Bermuda when it malfunctioned unexpectedly. With water entering the vessel, the passengers issued a distress call, prompting a reaction from the United States Coast Guard. After assessing the situation, the Coast Guard sent an emergency broadcast to surrounding ships, informing them of the urgent situation. The Disney Treasure, which was around 80 miles away at the time, swiftly responded.
The Disney Treasure sent one of its tiny rescue boats to the catamaran and safely removed all four passengers. Fortunately, there were no injuries recorded.
Captain Marco Nogara of the Disney Treasure expressed joy in his crew’s efforts, adding, “We are delighted that the Disney Treasure was able to assist the boat passengers in danger. Our crew members collaborated on the rescue, successfully exhibiting their skills and dedication to safety.
A Disney spokeswoman verified that the ship was traveling from Eemshaven, Netherlands, to Port Canaveral, Florida, when it made the timely intervention. The successful rescue demonstrates the Disney Treasure crew’s preparedness and determination, as they not only gave immediate assistance but also safeguarded the safety of all parties involved.
